Shotgun sports cover a wide variety of games. Clay target shooting is comprised of Trap, Skeet and the latest North American Game:
Sporting Clays
The sporting game is a mix of Trap and Skeet shooting combined with targets designed for Sporting Clays only. The sporting course can be any size, for example 200 yds to 2 miles long with as little as 5 separate shooting stations and up to 20 or 30 positions. All stations are different. A group or squad of sporting shooters (usually max. 6) wind their way through the course. Most venues are 100 or 200 targets. Each station is numbered to coincide with the shooters scorecards. There are no set rules as to how targets are to be thrown. Each station may have a manual or a fully automatic target thrower and every station must present targets the same for all shooters for a specific day. Targets can be presented at any height or angle as long as they are shootable and can be accurately scored.
THE SPORTING GAME WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO SIMULATE REAL HUNTING CHALLENGES
Sporting Clay targets include RABBITS; an extra hard 1/2 inch thick and 3-4 inches in diameter " Bouncing Bunny". These are thrown from a special machine and are launched on the ground at speeds of up to 40 mph. INTERESTING? ABSOLUTELY!!
Other sporting targets are Battues, Minis, Midis, Rockets, Flash Birds and regular Clay Birds used in Trap and Skeet shooting.
